Sterling is the Independent Scientific Advisor at Campden BRI and sits on its board. He also on the audit governance board at Eurofins.Sterling is also Scientific Advisor for OLIO.
Sterling has over 35 years’ experience of working in the food industry in the fields of food safety, governance ,horizon scanning and innovation. He started his career in government before a successful track history in retailing with Marks and Spencer and Tesco. He has also worked in the branded environment for Coca -Cola and Disney and as a Technical Director at the manufacturers Peter Black and Kolak Snack Foods. With experience as a regulator, retailer and manufacturer he has a unique perspective on the development of the food industry.
He is immediate past Vice President of the Institute of Food Science and Technology and chairs it’s Food Safety Group. He sits on the CIEH expert food panel.
He has also been a Non- Executive Director with the social enterprises The Chadwick House Group (UK) and Environmental Health Testing ( Florida US).and trustee of the scientific charities SCS andj IFST.
Sterling is a scientific and public health commentator with regular columns and a number of papers. to his name. He has acted as a expert witness.
