According to the National Farmers Mutual Union Insurance company, which reported that in 2019 farm animals worth £3 million were stolen. An earlier Guardian article describes some of the disturbing incidents of livestock theft and illegal slaughter in 2014. It appears that the situation is worse even in the Covid-19 lockdown.
